The University of Washington Tacoma’s Office of Equity and Inclusion leverages partnerships within and across all UW campuses and the greater South Salish Sea community to lead visioning, programming, and professional development opportunities that promote, model, and sustain inclusive excellence and social justice.

The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is led by the Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion and encompasses the Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI), syay??adi? (the Family Room) that is overseen by the Native and Indigenous Students Success Specialist, and the food pantry.

The Administrative Specialist is a key staff member of the Office of Equity and Inclusion (E&I) and supports the Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion (VCEI) in providing executive- level support to the VCEI, prioritizing the tasks and administrative goals of the office, in order to advance the inclusive excellence and social justice mission of the University of Washington Tacoma. The Administrative Specialist regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion in work related to office operations, external communications and outreach, budgets and expenditures, meeting and event logistics.

This position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks and attend to multiple levels of the university system simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and positive professional demeanor. It also demands the ability to take initiative and work in a self-directed, highly organized manner. This position involves a high level of coordination, initiative, and diplomacy while working with various levels of campus and community stakeholders. Additionally, the position requires the ability to communicate across diverse cultures and uphold confidentiality. To be successful in this position, the Administrative Specialist must possess high emotional intelligence and an inclusive mindset.
