Department Summary
The Department of Educational Psychology is one of four departments in the College of Education. The Department of Educational Psychology currently offers a BS degree in Human Development and Family Science, a MS in Educational Psychology, a MEd in Special Education, a PhD in Educational Psychology, and a PhD in Special Education. The Educational Psychology PhD organized around four concentrations: Gifted and Talented Education; Human Development and Family Science; Learning Sciences; and Research Methodology, Measurement, & Statistics.
Position Overview

The Educational Psychology Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Administrative Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: *Travel. *Purchasing. *Budgets. *Spreadsheets/Excel. *Payroll/Timekeeping. *Hiring/Supervision of Student Assistants. *SPOT Evaluation Process.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple assignments effectively.
• Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Job Duties


o

Supervise student workers by training, communicating expectations, taking disciplinary action as needed, and assisting with project management. This role also responsible for student worker hiring, payroll, timekeeping, managing schedules, and delegating tasks.

o

Arrange travel and reimburse expenses for departmental faculty, staff, students, and faculty candidates in a timely manner. Maintain good records of professional development funds and faculty recruiting expences as well as some other additional faculty funds.

o

Purchase office supplies and expences for professional development and candidate searches through Pcard or requisition. Complete monthly PCard reports, reconcile for other Pcard holders and create monthly budget reports to track departmental expenses.

o

Maintain Departmental inventory to state standards through the asset management system. Use appropriate forms and processes for purchasing, equipment checkout, and surplus removals. Complete annual inventory reporting.

o

Assist in maintaining SACS Accreditation by working with the Program Project Coordinator, Department Chiar and other faculty members to collect and record learning objective outcome data from each of the departmental program areas.

o

Create and manage SPOT Evaluations for each course.

o

Assist search committee chairs with faculty searches by arranging travel, meeting spaces, campus tours, benefits meetings, and expense reimbursements. Coordinate with student workers for assistance in the process and keep detailed records of departmental recruitment expenses.

o

Assist in planning and execution of departmental meetings and other events by scheduling conference rooms, purchasing, correspondence, and all other arrangements. Assist with college events as requested that may require work outside of normal office hours.

o

Assist all faculty, staff, students, and other guests as needed in a professional manner. Assist in creating a pleasant and efficient work environment.

o

Attend trainings and seminars for professional development. Records Retention. Other duties as assigned.
