Job Description

Brightpoint Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education and one of the largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. Provide shared administrative support to assist administrators, faculty, and staff within the Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and other departments when needed.
Work within established policies and procedures to perform a variety of administrative support activities to include assisting with the daily operations and management of office activities and tasks, maintaining the schedule of classes, answering and screening inquiries from students and the general public, maintaining office records, preparing and maintaining adjunct contracts/records, using budget/requisition system, managing projects, and maintaining databases. Interact with other departments within the College. Work at either the Chester or Midlothian Campus, which is subject to change depending upon the needs of the College. Be willing to work both day and evening shifts, as needed.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Experience performing administrative tasks; excellent written and verbal communication skills to include interpersonal, customer service and cross-cultural skills; excellent computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Word; working experience in a fast paced, diverse, and occasionally stressful environment; and required background check.
*All full-time classified employees new to the Commonwealth of Virginia will serve a 12-month probationary period.
Additional Considerations
Familiarity with creative design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign. Familiarity with video and photo editing software.
Proficiency in the use of eVA and PeopleSoft; higher education experience.
