Population Health:

The Department of Population Health Sciences brings together full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as additional faculty with secondary appointments, committed to conducting research on the individual, social, structural, and community factors that create health disparities in the population and to design and implement interventions to promote health and increase health equity. Faculty research interests include all aspects of population health including adolescent health, cancer detection and outcomes, cardiovascular health, community-based participatory research, global health, health communication and messaging, health disparities, health of LGBTQ+ populations, health services research, HIV care and prevention, infection prevention and control, Latinx health, men’s health, mental health, obesity, sexual health, substance use and cessation, including alcohol and tobacco use, suicidality, and violence against women among many others. Faculty expertise areas include anthropology, behavioral science, biostatistics, epidemiology, health education, health communication, implementation science, public health law, and qualitative, survey, and mixed methodologies.

The Opportunity:

This position reports to the Population Health Chair and works with the chair, faculty, and research staff to support the daily operations of the department. Organizes and maintains information for sensitive and confidential communications and meetings, as directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a complex calendar for the Chair of Population Health including meeting schedules, creating agendas, reserving conference room space, confirming appointments/meetings. Regularly updates the chair's calendar.

  • Facilitates meetings with faculty and staff and coordinates regular meetings with direct reports.

  • Coordinates local and national travel purchases with TPC for internal and external travelers (i.e. visiting faculty, external curriculum lecturers, etc.).

  • Ensures fiscal compliance with State and University laws and regulations.

  • Processes purchases, contracts service and facilitates the coordination of documents (printing and organizing), manages storage of hard copy and electronic files, and other special requests relative to the chair.

  • Provides professional and administrative support to the Chair of Population Health to include screening calls and visitors, reviewing incoming correspondences/emails, investigates subjects as required and composes appropriate responses.

  • May perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing and filing.

  • Maintain direct contact with Department Chair, faculty, and staff to monitor data collection for annual department, college, and institutional reports.

  • Assists Chair in coordinating tasks and projects.

  • Manages excel documents used to: plan and track travel, schedule arrangements and related purchases/reimbursements, and identify speaking engagement timelines (annual events and meetings).

  • Coordinates and researches information needed for high level presentations for the development of the department and student curriculum.

  • Assists Chair in annual evaluation and promotion and tenure process for faculty and staff. Will be responsible for ongoing project planning and management.

  • Maintains supervision of departmental files, including teaching qualifications, credentials, and annual evaluation and promotion data reports.

  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in the absence of supervision.

  • Communicate effectively with multiple internal staff in various departments in addition to stakeholders at all levels.

  • May serve as a search committee search manager in conjunction with the COM HRBC for department faculty and staff searches.

  • Timely completion of college and institutional required trainings and updates.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master’s Degree and 0+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) . 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly organized.

  • Ability to function well in a high intensity, constantly changing work environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
