Position Summary:
 
The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UC Irvine Health School of Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and understanding of human diseases through biomedical and clinical research. The department's research programs are in laboratories at UC Irvine Medical Center and on the Irvine campus. They are supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other extramural sources.
 
Under the general supervision of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Finance Manager, the incumbent is responsible for all purchasing and reimbursement activities for the department. Purchases and reimbursements may vary in complexity and can include, but is not limited travel, business or entertainment meetings, honoraria, awards, and other miscellaneous items that require different forms of payment and back up. Maintains accurate records and documentation in support of all transactions, serves as primary contact and facilitator for all purchases, reimbursements, disbursements, one-time payments using UCI's Kuali Financial System. Responsibilities include knowledge of university policies and procedures as they pertain to procurement, accounting, contracts, travel, and business rules. Also, the incumbent is responsible for booking and processing travel reimbursements for the department. In addition, individual will be the Equipment Manager for the department entails keeping equipment list up to date for the annual equipment inventory.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $23.24 - $28.28 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $27.34 - $39.18 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
 
  • 2- 4 years of relevant experience in academic setting
  • BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to effectively process procurements, contracts and travel in accordance with university policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 
Preferred:
 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned duties independently and effectively, remaining flexible and responsive to changing priorities. 
  • Resourcefulness in finding appropriate solutions to problems and initiative in presenting alternatives and implementing solutions. 
  • High degree of proficiency in software applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. 
  • Working knowledge of university policies, procedures, and organizational structure including Financial, Purchasing, and Travel functions
