Position Information
The Frederick Douglass Library at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applicants to apply for a full-time, nonexempt, twelve-month position with full benefits. The position reports to the Director of Library Services. 
Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility to provide administrative support to the Director of Library Services and library faculty and staff.
  • Submits purchase requisitions into the university Kuali Financial System, 
  • Orders services and supplies using the university Procurement Card.
  • Manages incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Assists the Director with budget management.
  • Maintains a positive rapport with library vendors.
  • Assists with library programming and special events. 
  • Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors.
  • Makes travel arrangements.
  • Provides supervision and direction to the administrative office student workers.
  • Serves as the library’s point of contact in the absence of the Director.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Two years’ experience providing administrative support
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices & protocol. 
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment. 
  • Skilled in various computer software packages.
  • Skilled in decision making, planning, research, and problem solving
  • Skilled in effective communication both oral and written.
  • Ability to provide a high level of confidentially.
