Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Family Medicine is one of eleven clinical departments at the Brody School of Medicine. The purpose of the department is to improve the health of the people of eastern North Carolina through leadership in Family Medicine education, research and health care services. The department provides accessible, high quality health care for its patients.
The Department of Family Medicine consists of seven divisions, as well as a central administration office. Each division has a responsibility that supports the overall mission of the department. The divisions include educational development, research, medical student education, residency, geriatrics, clinical services, and sports medicine. Clinical activities take place in the Family Medicine Center, Robert and Frances Monk Geriatric Center, Firetower Medical Office, nursing homes, ECU Health Medical Center and in the community.
Job Duties
ECU’s Department of Family Medicine is seeking to hire a temporary, full-time Patient Access staff to work in the phone HUB.
Responsibilities include: Answering incoming patient calls to FMC, appointment scheduling, patient registration and insurance verification, answering patient questions and/or routing messages to correct clinical staff/faculty regarding patient questions.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center. ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
