Position Highlights The Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona is accepting applications for an Adjunct Lecturer. The Department is seeking a candidate with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence. The successful candidate will teach General Education courses for a diverse undergraduate student population and will be required to teach face-to-face courses. This position may vary from 10 - 20 hours per week (.25 to .50 FTE) for the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2024-2025 academic year. Hiring will depend on availability of funding, course enrollments and the needs of the department. This position will teach one course beginning August 19, 2024, and is expected to last two semesters.

Your teaching load may make you become eligible for benefits if you work a .50FTE or greater for 90 days or longer. As courses and loads are determined, we will notify employees should they gain benefits eligibility status.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teaching one to two undergraduate courses depending on department needs.
  • Holding office hours.
  • Preparing teaching materials independently and collaboratively.
  • Attending meetings and/or events as requested. Actively recruiting majors and minors to the BA in East Asian Studies.
  • Contributing to departmental efforts to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement and fostering diversity and inclusive excellence.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in East Asian Studies or closely related field by August 1, 2024.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching East Asian Studies at the university level.
