|Position Title||Adjunct Instructor - Science Methods|
The Education Department at St. Lawrence University invites applications for an annual, 1-semester adjunct position in the Professional (student teaching) Semester. Teaching load consists of 1-course: “Methods, Materials and Language Development in the Content Area: Science” for graduate and undergraduate students pursuing initial teaching certification in NYS. Position begins August 2017, with the possibility of continuing in subsequent fall semesters. We welcome applications from candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic, linguistic and national perspectives to their K-12 teaching approaches, content and professional development opportunities.
NYS Professional Certification in 7-12 Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science and/or Physics) or equivalent (Master’s degree in teaching, in a science or related field and three (3) or more years teaching experience in the certificate area)
Identified under a NYS school district’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) plan as effective or highly effective or equivalent rating.
Preference will be given to applicants who are currently employed as a 7-12 science teacher in a NYS public school and have experience with differentiation and educational technology.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter addressing philosophical and instructional approaches to teaching 7-12 science (with specific reference to student engagement and achievement), their experience mentoring new teachers or teacher candidates, and their interest in teaching in a liberal arts college environment. Candidates should also submit a current CV or resume, a sample unit plan or at least three (3) sample lesson plans addressing NYS Common Core ELA and NYS Science Learning Standards or NGSS and a document with contact information, phone number, and email for three (3) references [please be sure to indicate which reference/s can verify effective/highly effective or equivalent status].
