Job Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is seeking applications for adjuncts in Mathematics. The successful candidate will teach online introductory courses in mathematics (Quantitative Reasoning, College Algebra, and Elementary Statistics), including corequisite support sections. Qualified applicants must have Master’s in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field (including at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in mathematics). 

Duties and Responsibilities


Duty/Responsibility
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
  •  Prepare and deliver instruction on topics in introductory mathematics, following the course map provided.
  •  Compile, administer, evaluate and grade students’ assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; and keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.
  • Contribute to the General Education Assessment and Program Assessment through the collection and reporting of course data.
  •  Develop curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Maintain office hours for students seeking academic advice, assist in student recruitment and retention; and assist students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.
  •  Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.

Education/Knowledge


Minimum Education Master's
Required Licenses/Certification
Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field (including at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in mathematics.) 
Required Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning; experience interacting successfully with academically and culturally diverse student populations.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has seven full-time faculty.  Five Mathematics faculty teach General Education courses and service courses to the University. Two Computer Science faculty teach approximately 70 undergraduate students pursing degree options in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Cybersecurity.
