Summary

Adjunct Instructors - Firefighter I & II will assist the lead Instructors to educate, train, and professionally develop students in the Firefighter Minimum Standards

Academy instructors are active or recently retired professional Firefighters, Company Officers or Chief Officers selected for their expertise in the various aspects of fire department operations, firefighting, rescue, and other topics taught in the Academy

The class lead instructor educates, trains, and professionally develop students in the Emergency Medical Technician program. The lead instructor is wholly responsible for activities directly related to scheduled instruction. This can include lecture, labs, clinical, performance and coaching assignments, as well as student assessment and testing.

Lead Instructors must be well versed in the delivery of content in full accordance with NATIONAL EMT and Paramedic scope of practice protocols with the end goal of properly preparing students for NREMT examinations.   Instructors will deliver class ultimately with this goad in mind.

Essential Functions

Adjunct Instructors - Firefighter I & II will:

  • Take direction from the Fire Program Coordinator and Class Lead Instructor to ensure a smooth and professional class experience for the students.

  • Assist in the setup of the classroom when the students for didactic lectures.

  • Prepare the exterior training ground practical skills training.

  • Assist in the delivery of the course lectures.

  • Ensure all course cognitive and performance objectives are met by each student prior to final State testing.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Instructors will have the following certifications:

  • Firefighter Minimum Standards, Fire Officer and Fire safety Inspector instructors must meet the minimum requirements as outlines in the Florida State Fire College, Bureaus of Fire Standard and Training guidelines

  • State of Florida Fire College certified Fire Instructor I

  • Live Fire Training Instructor
