About the Music Program:

The Music Program at Drexel University is an active non-major program consisting of nearly seventeen hundred students each year engaged in sixteen musical ensembles, courses, and private lessons. The program unites students from every college across the campus, brought together by an intrinsic love of music. The mission of the Music Program is to cultivate the cultural literacy and understanding of its students as well as the greater university.

Job Summary

This is an adjunct position to teach and conduct a 45 – 60+ student, auditioned concert band. There are weekly rehearsals followed by an end of quarter concert at the end of fall, winter, and spring quarters. There are 3 hours/week of rehearsal and then the concert. There are additional duties associated with the inclusion of Concert Band within the greater Music Program, and Department of Performing Arts.

Essential Functions

  • Program appropriate concert repertoire
  • Teach and conduct
  • Manage all aspects of the classroom as faculty
  • Work and share resources with the Drexel symphony orchestra, pep band, and other ensembles
  • Embrace the missions of the University, College, Department, and program.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion.
  • Audition students, whether for scholarships or inclusion
  • Maintain the Concert Band library
  • Maintain the inventory of Concert Band instruments

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
