Normal Work Schedule: Varies based on seasonal competitions, travel schedule, training, and recruiting


Job Summary: The Adapted Athletics Coach overs all team practices (coaching and training), weight training, sporting events, team auditions, recruitment, tournaments and fundraising events. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may supervise other coaching staff.


Additional Department Summary: This position is for a Para Track and Field Head Coach in the Adapted Athletics program at The University of Alabama. Reports directly to the Director of Adapted Athletics. Plans and executes daily practices, planning sessions, assisting with academic meetings, budgeting, event planning, nutrition, team travel and film review, and supervising student workers and volunteers. Attends and runs all practices, training sessions, academic meetings, film sessions, and events with their respective team. Supervises student workers and interns. Assists in recruiting and retention of student athletes. Represents the university in public outreach and awareness. Works closely with our sports medicine staff and sports performance staff on a daily basis. This is a full-time position for one academic year period with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs and funding availability.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience coaching and/or playing adapted athletic sport; OR master's degree and four (4) years of experience coaching and/or playing adapted athletic sports.


Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of paralympic sports and physical disabilities. Ability to attend daily practices, training sessions, film sessions and academic meetings. Ability to travel by bus or airplane for extended periods of time for para track and field competitions or recruiting.


Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years Coaching and or Competition experience at the Collegiate or Paralympic level.
