Position Summary

Plans, directs, and implements programs designed to improve CNM student retention and success. Identifies academic and support service needs. Provides proactive communication and measures of success for students. Coaches and counsels assigned students in understanding expectations of the program and overcoming obstacles to ensure success.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coaches students to find appropriate solutions and maintain data collection relating to student success topics/projects within specific academic schools and programs with specific academic content.
  • Provides information on college policies, procedures and activities, including, but not limited to: financial aid, scholarships, enrollment, registration, orientation, testing, dual credit, academic regulations, advertisement, counseling referrals, and career services, disability services, transfer processes, and other student services and academic services and processes and other specialized resources.
  • Supports programs that promote student retention and graduation. Facilitates specific college initiatives that support students from enrollment through graduation including multiple enrollments process, participation in college accreditation reports, implementation of first-year experience strategies, and CNM Connect teams and processes.
  • Provides information on resources outside CNM regarding public benefits, tax preparation, and asset-building strategies.
  • May supervise work-study students and part-time tutors.
  • Creates and maintains training resources to be used by all coaches across the College.
  • Provides training and workshops for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Participates in outreach and recruitment activities as needed.
  • Collaborates with other departments, divisions, and outreach community agencies and assigned high schools.
  • Prepares, reports, and develops tracking methods, identifies data and maintains regular communication with students to monitor and measure students’ academic progress and success.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements services that are designed to improve students’ retention, graduation and success.
  • Maintains data collection/computerized database systems relating to online students’ success topics/projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related experience.

Preferences:

  • Experience in a post-secondary setting preferred (both 2-year and 4-year experience desirable).
  • Experience in project analysis, data base usage, and written reports. 
  • Experience developing intervention activities designed for student populations of the divisions listed above.
  • Previous experience with Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Previous experience working effectively with students and faculty.
  • Previous experience communicating with diverse audiences, including group presentations.
  • Experience working with adult and non-traditional students.
  • Experience working with state and local agencies.
  • Knowledge of state and federal grants and grant requirements.
