Department Summary
The College of Education at the University of North Texas has been an innovator in preparing educators since being established in 1890 as a teacher’s college. Today, the COE continues this tradition by developing professionals who help others reach their full potential through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health and civic engagement. The COE offers 12 bachelor’s degrees, 19 master’s and 15 doctoral concentrations that provide the training and field experience needed to teach people how to live more productive lives. In support of this mission, the Educator Preparation Office works in collaboration with partner departments, colleges, and external agencies to ensure compliance to quality preparation standards and continuous program improvement through ongoing assessment and data analysis.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for gathering and analyzing data from various sources and databases, and preparing reports related to state compliance, national accreditation, and other college needs. The ability to problem solve and to interpret data requests and data sets is integral to this position. The ability to work collaboratively across UNT personnel and resources as well as outside stakeholders to collect data and to present data reports to a variety of audiences is critical. This position ensures compliance with all Texas Education Agency rules and statutes as approved by the State Board of Educator Certification.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with Texas teacher education accountability systems.

  • Strong mathematical and technical ability.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of statistical packages and relational database design and logic.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Access and Excel.
  • Proficiency in specific software and programming languages may be required.

Job Duties


o
Review programmatic policies, records, evaluations, and documents for compliance to TEA standards and Texas Administrative Code.
o
Gathers, analyzes and prepares data related to student preparation, program progression, and completion.
o
Plans, executes, and coordinates data collection, writing, and submission of state and national compliance and accreditation reports (e.g., Title II, state and national education agencies, etc.)
o
Attend webinars and training meetings related to compliance reporting and to enhance job-related data and research skills.
o
Create and/or maintain multiple electronic databases used for compliance reporting and program review within the College of Education (COE).
o
Collaborates with COE personnel to assist with conducting research, creating reports, and providing recommendations for implementing findings.
o
Understands, selects, and uses advanced statistical and quantitative data analysis techniques to achieve desired data or solutions.
o
Independently pursues methods to increase the efficiency of data collection, storage, retrieval, and reporting within the COE.
