Position Summary
This position will be expected to assist in all aspects of grants research. The Accounting Technician will work directly with multiple groups and individuals across the UNC School of Medicine to communicate financial objectives, records, and transactions. Under the direction of the manager for Global Women’s Health, this role will primarily provide all financial support to the international grant accounting duties for the division. This includes billing, account reconciliations, collections, financial reporting, and ad hoc analysis. This position completes the weekly account reconciliation and billing, manages receivables, performs any collection activities, oversees travel and supply expenditures, and provides back up support for domestic grant research accounting, various other projects and other reporting responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and email/calendar software packages. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with Sponsored Research.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Experience with PeopleSoft. 
  • Experience in a higher education environment; UNC Chapel Hill experience a plus.
