Job Description

The W. P. Carey School of Business is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant within Financial Accounting and Operations. This individual will be reporting to the Business Operations Manager to perform accounts payable activities for assigned units requiring application of a professional, competent knowledge of accounting principles and practices. These functions include procurement reporting, travel, journal entries, internal control compliance, and other financial and operation functions designated by the unit administrator.

This position is a hybrid remote work arrangement.

Essential Duties

  • Review, process and/or approve payables, travel, purchasing card, journal entries
  • Accounts payable and procurement reporting
  • Research past financial payment data
  • Maintain financial record
  • Advise on policy and procedure to units
  • Accounts payable liaison for units and procurement
  • Revenue and deposits
  • Set up new suppliers
  • Other financial and operation functions as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in processing accounts payable
  • Experience in Financial Management System Workday, Google Sheets, and Excel  
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Work experience at ASU preferred.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
