The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Accountant II (Financial Analyst Auxiliary Services). This position can be located on either the Dahlonega or Gainesville campus. The Auxiliary Services Financial Analyst supports the department by providing accounting services, including bookkeeping, invoicing, reporting, and budget analysis for each of the Auxiliary operating units as well as the department itself. This position requires critical thinking skills, research skills, and ability to analyze and understand financial data. Occasional Saturday work required at peak times & during summer hours.

  • Process and conduct all Auxiliary Services accounting duties, including but not limited to account reconciliations, journal entries, commissions analysis and reporting, department invoicing, and commensurate administrative support. Ensure that payments are received timely and correctly from various third party contractors.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports for all Auxiliary Services enterprises. Communicate results of such analyses to appropriate parties in management. Work with Auxiliary Services unit directors and managers to ensure that all accounts are reconciled and that accounting entries are handled in accordance with policies. Analysis should include critical thinking and research skills to thoroughly understand the data being presented to management.
  • Review business procedures and financial reporting processes; make recommendations and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide all accounting services for Military Supply Store.  Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis of financial data as needed. Process A/P billing, A/R - Foundation and Department billing, and reconcile inventory and sales on a daily basis. Review and approve daily cashier deposits.
  • Assists with audits and USG System reporting by providing information as requested.  Administrative support or other duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to communicate financial data clearly to decision makers. 
  • Works well under deadlines and can provide ad hoc data on a short timeline upon request. 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years of accounting experience in bookkeeping areas of journal entries, invoicing, and reconciliations required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
