Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Accountant position for Oregon State University – Cascades (OSU-C).
This position will be located in Bend, Oregon.
The Accountant I is responsible for providing accounting support to the Business Office, including accounts receivable and cashiering, accounts payable, accounting report preparation and grant accounting and support. This person contributes to the success of the organization by demonstrating sound judgment, anticipatory skills, confidentiality, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to succeed in a highly challenging and fast-paced environment.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon, is a branch campus of Oregon State University. The campus currently enrolls more than 1,300 students in bachelor’s and graduate degree programs. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 students and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational and research environment.

Key Responsibilities
45% Business Office Accounting and Support
  • Internal invoicing and journal vouchers for internal charges – catering, conferences
  • External invoicing for conferences, etc.
  • Dining cash bag preparation assistance
  • Vault audit assistance
  • Back-up for daily deposit preparation
  • Back-up cashiering
  • Check stock and gift card inventory
  • Student account adjustments
  • Atrium entries o Meal plan adjustments o Bend Beavs Bucks o Conference Meal Cards
  • Invoice and journal voucher entry
  • Process MAT/COUN school district stipends
  • Assist with creating course fees and internal/external fees and auditing

50% Grant Accounting and Support
  • Pre-award support including:
    • Cayuse entry and training o budget development
  • Post-award support including:
    • transaction monitoring o expense cost transfers o prepare labor distributions
    • create budget, expense and forecast reports for PIs

5% Other Duties as Assigned
What We Require

Bachelor’s degree with CPA or PA certificate;

OR
Bachelor’s degree with 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of college-level Accounting;

OR
30 quarter (20 semester) hours of Accounting courses and three years of Accounting experience*

*Accounting experience must include at least 3 of the following:
Preparing transactions to be recorded in records of original entry;
Preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries;
Summarizing data from a ledger to a trial balance;
Closing accounts at the end of an accounting period;
Applying PC spreadsheet, database, and word processing software; Processing data using a computer.

Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.

What You Will Need
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
