JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   The Accommodations and Testing Coordinator assists the Associate Director for Accessibility and Accommodations in the operation of Accessibility and Operations. This position coordinates the operation and maintenance of the testing lab, assists with intake and assessment of student accommodations, and works with students on needs related to academic technology support.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Arranges the testing environment, including adjusting physical spaces, according to the individualized accommodation needs of the students.

2.      Works collaboratively with the Colleges to obtain and administer exams in the required accessible formats for students with documented disabilities.

3.      Reviews student requests for examination appointments and ensures exams are received, administered, and delivered to and from the Colleges with integrity and efficiency.

4.      Conducts intake interviews and assesses, reviews, and interprets documentation to determine the presence of a disability under applicable disability law, and engages in the interactive process with appropriate offices to determine reasonable accommodations pertaining to classes and clinical/fieldwork experiences.

5.      Maintains an effective case management system (AIM) for students with approved accommodations including case tracking, review, and analysis.

6.      Monitors student attendance throughout the exam session. Notes begin and end times of exams and awareness of late attendance or no-show attendance.

7.      Provides written and oral instructions as needed.

8.      Serves as front-line expert user and trainer for the testing scheduling system for students with accommodations.

9.      Collects and analyzes data from the scheduling system to identify trends in usage, needs, and challenges in testing and proctoring; troubleshoots both physical and digital accessibility issues that arise during the administering of exams.

10.  Provides monthly exam data reports to the associate director.

11.  Maintains current understanding of trends around the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Office of Civil Rights, and the Department of Justice.

12.  Presents workshops to faculty and students on the process of applying for Accessibility and Accommodations.

13.  Perform other duties as assigned. 

 



Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Counseling, or a related field. (Master’s Degree preferred,) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience working with students with disabilities in higher education. (Experience working with graduate/professional students with disabilities and developing programs with diverse populations is preferred.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to accommodations and accessibility, such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking and sound judgment.
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate, oversee, and complete various projects in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Skill to work with and use assistive technology.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally work evenings and weekends, with occasional overnight travel.
