Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
 

The Coordinator Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Accessibility Services and assists with providing program accessibility, case-management assistance, and administrative support.

  • Assist with accommodation applications and documentation review for all requests including but not limited to academic, housing, ESAs, study abroad, and meal plans.
  • Assist students experiencing temporary medical conditions 
  • Meet with active and incoming students to provide orientation of services and track the effectiveness of existing services.
  • Provide consultation to faculty, staff, students and parents on accessibility accommodations involving classroom access, parking, housing, meal plans, campus events, etc.
  • Confer with the Assistant Director to provide accommodation adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain and manage case management records while assisting students through the registration process.
  • Assist with the management of the AIM database information system.
  • Serve as a liaison for Student Care & Support to provide ongoing support for students of concern that are registered with Accessibility Services
  • Create and coordinate programming through campus partnerships and provide resources to educate students, faculty, and staff about accessibility related topics.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and application of current higher education policies, procedures, and regulations i.e., institutional departmental procedures, FERPA, ADAAA, 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Assist with the development and assessment of operational effectiveness and learning outcomes associated with programs and services.

  • Experience working in an environment with time-sensitive disability accommodation services, preferably in higher education.
  • Ability to work effectively within various levels of management in a university setting.
  • Capacity to diffuse volatile situations requiring timely decisions in the interest of the student, Office of Accessible Services, the University and federal mandates.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
   
Required Education Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related area. The most competitive candidates are likely to have a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Education, or related area.
   
Required Experience Minimum two years’ experience
