Posting Context Statement | This position will provide support to two offices within Center for Disability Access and Resources depending upon the need of the office and students. The incumbent will need to be flexible, have strong interpersonal skills interviewing students with disabilities, determine accommodation needs, provide academic and social skills support to students on the autism spectrum, and work professionally with students, staff, and faculty to help mitigate barriers faced by students with disabilities. |
Position Overview | Access Consultant: This position is under the general direction of the Director of the Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR). The Access Consultant works to ensure equal access for students with disabilities in all aspects of campus life, as specified by the mandates of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAA), the Fair Housing Act, state, and university policies. The Access Consultant is responsible for identifying and implementing reasonable accommodations, determining eligibility, providing advocacy support, and providing case management to students with disabilities. The Access Consultant acts as a resource to the campus community on disability access topics and collaborates with faculty and staff to proactively remove barriers through inclusive initiatives such as universal design. Academic and Social Skills Coach: The Raven Scholars Program falls under the supervision of the CDAR Director. The Associate Director of Ravens will provide direct supervision of the Academic and Social Skills Coach portion of the job. Ravens Scholars Program provides a supported transition for University of Idaho students on the autism spectrum. The program supports college success by providing weekly planning meetings, peer mentoring, coordination of campus services and opportunities to improve social, academic and life skills. Participants are admitted to the program on a first-come, first-serve basis for this donation-based program. The Academic and Social Skills Coach provides one-on-one support to individuals enrolled in the program to improve academic and social skills, in addition to assisting the Associate Director in managing general office responsibilities. The Academic and Social Skills Coach would be responsible for learning about and educating Raven Scholars on campus resources, including the Center for Disability Access and Resources, Student Support Services, Tutoring, Counseling and Testing Center, and other campus services. |
