The USF School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (SPT&RS), within the Morsani College of Medicine, is the home to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program, a post-professional Orthopedic Physical Therapy clinical residency, and the Athletic Training Program. Each entering class of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training students engages in a cutting-edge, inter-professional curriculum delivered by a dynamic faculty from various healthcare disciplines.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direction of the Manager, Educational and Student Affairs for the School, the Academic Services Administrator is responsible for the administration of a specific academic program, project, service, or function to include academic program planning, implementation, and evaluation. This job performs administrative functions directly related to academic instruction.    This position is important to support the academic endeavors of our programs, and also assessing the outcomes of those programs through evaluation and coordination with program directors and supervisor. 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently design, plan, implement orientation activities/assignments for students matriculating into various programs.
  • Provide course support to faculty instructors for courses that use various methods for content delivery and student evaluation and maximizing the utility of tools in the Canvas learning management system. These functions require the ability to consider multiple options, develop knowledge of faculty skills/abilities and preferences (particularly with regard to the use of technology), understand desired outcomes of each course in order to create a best-fit proposal, and assist with creation of instructional materials.
  • Assist in developing class and testing schedules for professional educational programs curricula, evaluating, and balancing a number of factors contact hours that must be allocated for each class over the course of the semester, maximum advisable number of contact hours per week for best student learning & retention, maximum advisable number of contact hours per class in each session to avoid reduced retention due to topic fatigue, appropriate timing for exams based on the sequence of course content, and availability of classrooms and equipment. 
  • Assist with high stakes testing and practical exams.  
  • Main administrative support for the DPT curriculum committee and patterns of administration. Support includes, but is not limited to, putting together student handbooks, syllabi, curriculum mapping, curriculum maintenance with department, college, and university. Other duties as assigned by committees.
  • Serve as primary administrative user of evaluation software and process for programs. Create and maintain evaluations by students, peers, and outcomes measures as requested. Coordinate with Program Outcomes group on course, student, and faculty evaluations.  Provide support for canvas quizzes and ExamSoft for the department.
  • Collaboration with other members of the educational and student affairs team to ensure the support of faculty, staff, and students. This could include department events (white coat, graduation, career fairs, etc.), retreats, projects, etc.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university meetings as requested. Compile minutes as needed and serve as liaison to other departments. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Manager, Educational and Student Affairs.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:
This position requires a Master's degree in education or a field of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of experience in educational coordination and administrative support.

FLSB1310 equivalency:

Four years of directly related experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.

Six years of directly related experience can be substituted for a Master's degree.

PREFERRED:
Master’s degree in an education related field (higher education, educational leadership, instructional design, or curriculum design and support).    Knowledge and experience with learning management software. Ability to create instructional materials, considering how students learn by using effective methods to acheive their academic goals.
