Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Academic Services Officer I- College of Engineering at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
This position serves as a point of contact for prospective and matriculating students into to the graduate engineering programs. The incumbent will assist students, parents, and others in the community by providing instructions and information, clarifying outstanding admissions, and registration requirements, and assisting students with building relationships with other campus personnel. Coordinate and participate in a variety of recruitment activities.
Serve as point of contact for prospective and matriculating students, parents, and others by providing instructions and information related to admissions, orientation, funding/scholarship opportunities, and initial registration requirements.
Create and implement best practices for communicating with prospective and incoming students. Update graduate admissions engineering website to reflect current processes and procedures. Collaborate with departments' graduate program directors on admissions requirements.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of university resources and WSU Graduate School as well as effective working relationships with engineering deans, faculty and staff working with graduate engineering admissions and students. Identify best practices in recruiting, yielding, enrolling, and retaining students.
Assist with the coordination and participate in outreach graduate student recruiting and on-boarding events including phone and email campaigns, and on-campus programs including Graduate School Open House, Engineering Career Fairs, International Virtual Open Houses, Engineering Orientations, and hosting international exchange programs. Coordinate outgoing campaigns to follow up with admission offers, scholarship offers, and outstanding registration requirements. Create, develop and/or assist with engineer events related to graduate engineers and retention.
Collaborate with other units to coordinate the implementation and evaluation of communications, outreach, registration, and graduation activities. Collaborate with graduate program directors to assist graduate students with Graduate School and Registrar policies. Adapt work to model best practices in recruiting, yielding, enrolling, and analyzing effectiveness and outcomes in assigned market segments.
Create and manage graduate admissions data using various technical resources including the University data systems. Monitor reports and databases to document performance and provide statistical analysis of admissions outcomes in comparison to divisional goals for increasing enrollment and retention as well as monitoring cost benefits and effectiveness of activities performed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
institution in education administration, counseling, or related field is
required.
Master’s degree would be a plus.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years’ experience providing
academic programming or services in higher education/non-profit.
Some experience in university enrollment services required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent written and oral
communication skills. Able to identify and adapt communications and
presentations to align with a wide and diverse range of groups and individuals.
Must have multicultural awareness, with sensitivity and understanding of diverse student population cultures, ethnicities, genders, ages, economic levels, etc. Able to work effectively with students of varying levels of academic preparedness.
Able to maintain neutrality and listen actively to stakeholders. Ability to relate well and establish rapport with students, staff, faculty, parents, and other community stakeholders.
Ability to learn and quickly adapt to policies and procedures such as Admissions, Student Accounts, and Records and Registration, etc.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills. Able to quickly assimilate extensive knowledge of a complex nature. Ability to identify, intervene and resolve problems or discrepancies. Able to analyze, review and verify accuracy of data and information.
Demonstrated capability of working as an integral member of a goal oriented, data-driven enrollment management team.
Maintains confidentiality and compliance when handling sensitive information and situations.
Proficient in Microsoft office suite products, particularly Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook. Must possess working knowledge of database and reporting software and/or extensive knowledge of Excel.
