Department:
Engineering | Civil Environmental and Geodetic Engineering

Acts as a Graduate and Professional Programs Coordinator within the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering (CEGE) by providing administrative support and continuity of the CEGE graduate and professional programs); serves as academic liaison for graduate students, the Graduate Studies Chair, the Professional Graduate Program Chair, Graduate School and Graduate Admissions; provides academic and administrative assistance to Graduate Studies Chair and the Professional Graduate Program Chair; researches, analyzes and implements admissions policies and procedures for graduate programs; responds to inquiries and concerns; furnishes information and explains programs to public; provides guidance to graduate students regarding academic program and policies, admissions, financial support and graduate requirements; monitors academic progress of graduate students; manages data reporting for the departments Graduate and Professional Graduate programs; updates and collects department applications for graduate student Teaching Associate hires; coordinates graduate teaching hires with human resources; collaborates with Graduate Studies Committee and Graduate Studies Chair to review policies, procedures, department applications and training processes for graduate student employees; communicates and monitors training requirements for graduate student employees; supports, graduate professional development initiatives, including department recruitment activities and the Graduate Student Council activities; enters all department course scheduling for both undergraduate and graduate programs in the scheduling system; monitors enrollment and addresses issues for courses in the Student Information Systems (SIS); assists faculty with registrar on-line services as needed; manages building access and workspace assignments for graduate students in the department; collaborates with undergraduate advisors and the College on promoting and managing the combined BS/MS programs in the department; manages graduate and professional graduate program website pages; facilitates departmental graduate student travel award process.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Excellent computer skills required with proficiency using Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, students and faculty.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple program responsibilities.
  • Experience with developing and/or modifying and maintaining workflow procedures.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of graduate school and graduate admissions policies/procedures.
  • Experience counseling students.
  • Knowledge of OSU Student Information System, Workday and OSU operational policies/procedures.
