Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master’s degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Position Summary
UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing is seeking candidates for an Academic Nursing Faculty Coordinator position. This is a 12- month, non-faculty position funded by a HRSA Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention (NEPQR) Simulation Education Training (SET) multi-year program and the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice. The Academic Nursing Faculty/Coordinator will serve as the full-time simulation and partnership coordinator. They will work with team members, faculty members, students, and partners to implement and further develop the simulation program and IPEP activities for faculty and community partner development, and the use of simulation in teaching and assessment of student learning. They must also be willing to travel to clinical sites within one hour of Chapel Hill to provide any technical assistance needed. The ideal candidate will devote five days per week to this project.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Master’s prepared nurse who applies education expertise in evidence -based nursing practice within a specialty area (simulation education) and function in the following roles: simulation expert, educator, system thinker, change agent, and innovator.
Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in North Carolina
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bilingual (with fluency in English and Spanish)
Clear and unencumbered RN licensed with the NC Board of Nursing
Background in simulation development and implementation
Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty members and academic, practice and/or community partners. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Must have a valid driver’s license
