Academic Counselor
Business School Undergraduate
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Academic Counselor provides educational guidance and assistance by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for an assigned case load/portfolio of business majors, minors and other students enrolled in business courses. The position also requires utilization of a CRM system such as Salesforce to manage advising and a student information system database such as Banner to access student academic records.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a collaborative manner positions and units within the University.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions related to student academic advising.
• Ability to work with confidential information protected under FERPA and other rules/regulations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) applications, experience with a customer relationship management application such Salesforce and experience with a student information system database such as Banner.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advising experience in higher education.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
