    Position overview
    Position title: Academic Coordinator II for Academic Opportunities.
    Salary range: See Table 36 for the full salary range for this position. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $103,419 - $145,400 depending on level of experience.
    Percent time: 100
    Position duration: 1 year with possibility of renewal depending on performance and funding availability.

    Position description

    Duties will include the following.

    Develops Interdisciplinary Studies Minors

    • Collaborates with AVC, Deans, L&S Faculty, & the Academic Senate on the development and implementation Interdisciplinary Studies Minors
    • Helping to give a higher profile and identity to minors at UCSB
    • Providing first-level advice to students interested in non-departmental minors
    • Coordinating with Summer Sessions on existing and new Summer Minors
    • Coordinating with PaCE on related certificate programs to be included in messaging about minors
    • Coordinating with new catalogue project to develop webpage and portal for minors
    • Coordinating with Career Services, where relevant
    • Researching other campuses that have focused on minors and could provide models
    • Researching other campuses that have focused on minors and could provide models
    • Researching enrollment patterns that could have bearing on accessibility of minors

    Provides leadership and direction for the Letters and Science Honors Program

    • Coordinates the admissions process
    • Coordinates the honors reviews processes o Annual review of honors student status o Completion of the Program and Academic Engagement Award
    • Collaborates with the Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Honors advisors, and Honors staff to develop and implement a vision for the program

    Coordinates the Interdisciplinary Studies and Individual Majors

    • Advises students interested in the Interdisciplinary Studies and Individual Majors
    • Coordinates the proposal and approval process with students, AVC for Undergraduate Education, and the Letters and Science Faculty Executive Committee.

    Develops and manages new INT courses with special purposes, including;

    • Develop and implement a new, mandatory INT orientation course for new incoming transfer students
    • Develop and implement a new INT course in collaboration with Arts and Lectures focused on the Justice for All program
    • Develop and implement a new INT course with a focus on guest lectures and presentations from some of our brilliant faculty

    National Scholarships

    • Collaborates with the Advisor to National Scholarship Committee in recruiting students and advising them through the application process

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    • Master’s degree


    Preferred qualifications

    • PhD degree
    • At least 1-3 years of administrative support or project coordination experience and a proven track record of excellence in administrative and logistical support
    • Ability to analyze problems, gather relevant information, propose, and implement practical solutions with varying levels of input from senior staff efficiently and accurately
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills
    • Experience with project planning, management, and meeting deadlines
    • Experience with development of new curricula
    • At least 5+ years of experience in education and/or nonprofit administration
    • Experience managing academic programs or programmatic budget
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate vision for programs with high-level stakeholders and partner organizations
    • Experience with facilitating collaborative work across units
    • Experience with public, community engaged, and scholarship
    • Familiarity with processes and procedures at UCSB
    • Experience mentoring and advising undergraduate students
