Position Summary

The UNM Health and Health Sciences Marketing and Communications Department (MarCom) is looking for an exceptional writer to enhance internal and external communications at the UNM School of Medicine! The selected candidate will be on the MarCom team but will work directly with the School’s executive leadership team as well. The selected candidate will focus squarely on the School’s communication needs while working closely with a dyad partner who will support the School’s marketing needs.

MarCom is a highly skilled department meeting the communication and marketing needs of UNM’s Health Clinical System and the Health Sciences academic and research units. The UNM School of Medicine is closely tied with the UNM Health System to create New Mexico's only education and training opportunities for MDs and other health care professions.

Details of the role:

• Create written articles featuring the students, staff, researchers, faculty, missions, and programs for external use for the UNM School of Medicine.

• Write executive level internal and external communications for the Dean of the School of Medicine and other executive level staff.

• Create and produce internal communications newsletter for the UNM School of Medicine.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid NM Driver's License may be a requirement for some positions in this classifciation.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 year’s experience in professional writing

• Experience writing in AP Style

• Experience working in higher education and/or health care

• Familiarity with mass email platforms such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, or others.
