Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision of the Director the ECC Student Success Center, the employee performs basic professional student services work, utilizing a combination of high-level interpersonal skills and personal student contact. Academic advisors help students develop intentional decision making skills and strategies for academic success, and work on problems from the investigation and analysis stage through the solution and implementation stage. The primary work processes are assigned tasks typically follow well established work procedures and guidelines. Academic advisor provide developmental academic advising to potential, current and disqualified students, on a drop-in, referral, or appointment basis, and perform related activities in support of the University's focus on student success, retention and graduation.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
AND
One year of full-time equivalent experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate-level, job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Bilingual.
  • Degree in the Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, or STEM-related fields.
  • Experience with retention efforts, advising for STEM majors, or student success initiatives.
  • Experience with CRM- SalesForce, PeopleSoft, or Data Collection and Analysis.

Time Base: Full-time ***This position will have a hard end date of 7/31/24***

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm 

CSU Classification Salary Range:  $48,792 - $69,024 per year.
