Job/Department Summary:

The duties listed in this position description are representative of the vacating incumbent's responsibilities. Not all of these responsibilities will be accomplished during the duration of the emergency hire appointment, but this Emergency Hire will have some coverage and/or preparation of them.

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Dean, the College of Business Academic Advisor supports the enrollment, yield and advisement of approximately 2,000 undergraduate business students from the point of initial inquiry through graduation. Responsibilities include direct academic advising for majors and minors within assigned departments, targeted outreach to students within specific populations in the respective departments. Advisors help students develop intentional decision making skills and strategies for academic success and work on problems from the investigation and analysis stage through the solution and implementation stage. At this level, the primary work processes typically follow well structured work procedures and guidelines.

The position will work collaboratively, across divisions, to support institutional and college-level academic equity efforts by monitoring academic progress for historically-undeserved student groups, while utilizing evidence-based best practices to strengthen retention and success.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
AND
One year of full-time equivalent experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate-level, job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Time Base: Part-time (27-40 hrs per wk) NOTE: This position will have a hard end date of 05/31/24

Pay Plan: 12/12

CSU Classification Salary Range:  $48,792 - $69,024 per year.
