The Athletics Department at Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Academic Advisor I.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position advises prospective and current students about academic requirements and selection of courses. Disseminates Information on university policies and procedures to faculty, parents, student-athletes, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Maintains student's flies updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
- Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic exclusion, and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students who are part of the Academic Improvement Program.
- Audits student records for curriculum, major and graduation requirements, evaluates and determines transfer credits; researches course descriptions to determine transferability.
- Compares transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements and advises students on appropriate actions.
- Participate in mandatory advisement sessions.
- Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements using academic evaluation system.
- Monitors student registration activities and academic performance/progress.
- Coordinates communications to students regarding course scheduling, core and major requirements, academic resources etc.
- Determines awards recipients based on academic performance.
- Reviews course adjustment forms and petitions for readmission of students.
- Processes applications for state certifications, etc.
- Monitoring of study hall.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
:
Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
