The Department of Surgery at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons is seeking applications for a clinical faculty position.  An Assistant Professor level or above, an academic abdominal organ transplant surgeon is wanted for the Liver/Intestine and/or Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Programs. Academic/Research interests should include one or more of the following: organ preservation, immunology, outcomes, surgical oncology, xenostranplant, robotic surgery and normothermic regional perfusion.  Candidates for the position must be board eligible/certified and be eligible to be licensed to practice in the States of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  Is expected to have satisfactory completed an accredited transplant surgical fellowship program both for liver and kidney transplant, having had an experience in pediatric liver, intestinal and multiviseral transplantation during the fellowship. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.

Responsibilities:

§    Patient care including operating on patients requiring abdominal organ transplant surgery, hepatolobiliary surgery, and/or hepatopancreatobiliry surgery.

§    Participate in on-call coverage for Adult and Pediatric Liver, Kidney, Pancreas and Intestine Transplant services, including Liver Transplant service at Weill Cornell/New York Presbyterian. 

§    Particapate in the educaton of medical students, residents and fellows.

§    Participate in programmatic outreach including CME programs within the surrounding communities.

§    Participate with organ procurements on an as-needed basis.

§    Participate in clinical and/or basic science research.

§    Participate in compliance and quality care programs of the University and of the Department of Surgery, including QAPI.

§    Additional clinical duties may be discussed based on programmatic needs and interests.

Additional responsibilities include participation in the academic and research missions of the University and the Department of Surgery.
