Biological Scientist II

Experimental design and implementation of treatments, which entails the laying out and application of treatments in experimental plots and maintenance of experiments in the field.

Collection of soil and tissue samples to determine plant growth, yield, and other measurements.

Interpretation of results through organization of data, inputting of data, running statistical analysis, generation of reports, scientific literature review, and interfacing with cooperators.  Development of novel materials and methods for  biological data collection and statistical analysis of data may also be required.

Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

MS in horticulture, agronomy, soil science, agricultural engineering, or other related field or a B.S. in related field with three years of experience.

Knowledge of terminology, principles, and techniques used in applied crop production research.

Knowledge of methods of data collection, soil sampling, tissue sampling, and plant measurements.

Skill in use of scientific laboratory and field equipment and computers.

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
