Job Description:

This full-time, salaried position is located in the Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions. The work location for this position is in the Clinical Translational Research Building, located on the University of Florida campus. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and faculty with the implementation of research activities for both industry and NIH sponsored clinical trials.


The ImagingNMD UF network seeks a diligent, detail-oriented individual to assist with multiple industry sponsored clinical trials and government sponsored research studies collecting and analyzing magnetic resonance (MR) data and assisting with research participant visits. The incumbent will work as a member of the ImagingNMD Network with study key personnel to ensure compliance with the protocol requirements and regulatory standards. Primary responsibilities involve assisting with the conduction of clinical research, reading MR data, and assisting with onsite participant research activities. This position requires excellent communication, outstanding organizational skills, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, and an ability to multi-task.


The ImagingNMD UF research team brings researchers from throughout UF campus, industry, and other institutions together in a collaborative effort to further the understanding and treatment of neuromuscular diseases, including Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This research team facilitates clinical studies and trials focused on neuromuscular diseases and is engaged in national and international collaborative research efforts.

Clinical Research Assistance


  • Assists with conduction of the clinical study according to the FDA regulations/guidelines and adherence to ImagingNMD UF standard operating procedures and study specific manual of procedures.
  • Provides assistance for the day-to-day operations of a specific clinical research project and communicates with other clinical research staff regarding the conduct of the study.
  • Assists the Study Coordinator with the subject set up in the MRI facilities and Clinical Research Center and assists with recording clinical data.
  • Performs internal, informal queries to assist the Study Coordinator.
  • Monitors study specific electronic data capture tools to ensure the completeness and accuracy of study data.

MR Data Reading

  • Completes the manual steps required in MR data. This includes defining the regions of interest in image slices, for further computation.
  • Identifies the appropriate muscles and circles the boundaries of each muscle as described in the study specific manual of procedures.

Maintenance of study equipment and supplies

  • Assists with MRI phantom building and shipping.
  • Assists with golf cart maintenance, used for research participant visits.
  • Assists with inventory for research participant visits.

Expected Salary:

$17 to $19 per hour, commensurate with education, skills, and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Capacity to follow written procedures.

Ability to read, write and understand English.

Familiarity with muscle anatomy.

Familiar with GCP guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements highly preferred.
