Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Nursing is accepting applications for a part-time (30 hours/week) Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Practitioner. This position works in the College of Nursing’s nurse-led health center, Archer Family Health Care (AFHC), in Archer, Florida. The incumbent will provide primary care services in a rural practice. Primary responsibilities include providing evidence-based quality health care to patients across the lifespan. The applicant will participate in an integrated model of care, working with the care team to provide care for individuals and families in a rural setting. The applicant will evaluate and treat patients of all ages, providing annual physicals, preventive care, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. The applicant will participate in monthly team and provider meetings to facilitate efficiency of care delivery, precept graduate students, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. This position also requires participation in an on-call schedule 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking patient histories, conducting physical examinations and recording the data in the patient’s record, writing progress notes, and documenting treatment plans.
  • Ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting the results, presenting results to patients, and developing treatment plans for acute and chronic problems based on patient history and diagnostic testing results.
  • Perform procedures to include skin biopsies, lesion removal, cervical screenings, IUD placement, Nexplanon placements, basic suturing, incision, and drainage.
  • Provides education and clinical expertise to graduate students.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings, monthly provider meetings, and quality improvement initiatives including DNP projects.
Expected Salary:

$78,750 - $86,250 Annually

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree with a major in nursing or another health-related area. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice preferred. Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of primary care experience, rural health care experience, precepting experience

KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of confidentiality and the behaviors necessary to handle confidential materials Knowledge of the EPIC electronic health record.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills are important to work on a team and collaborate with care delivery.
  • Excellent interaction skills

ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain consistently an effective working relationship with providers and staff.
  • Ability to work with the public in a courteous, friendly, and tactful manner.
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current CPR certification.
