Position Summary
The 3D Animation & Game Design (ANGD) Program in the School of Media and Design seeks a part-time lecturer to teach online courses as part of the Master of Game Development (MGD) program. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities as assigned.

Essential Functions
Basic Instructional Duties:
  • Prepare course outlines based on approved departmental syllabi; deliver synchronous online instruction to Master of Game Development (MGD) students via Zoom.
  • Prepare timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to provide student assessment and in response to feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  • Adhere to UIW policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn and to answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically.)
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to collaborate with Director of the Master of Game Development (MGD) program to develop and deliver instruction on industry-standard skills in the field of Game Programming;
    • Knowledge of game development industry norms and pipelines;
    • Must be knowledgeable and experienced in at least one industry-standard engine (preferably Unity or Unreal);
    • Ability to effectively learn and use instructional technology;
    • Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections, as needed;
    • Ability to incorporate technology into teaching;
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
    • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
    Required Education
    BFA or BS in Game Design, Game Programming, Computer Science, or Game Production.
    Required Work Experience
    Significant experience in the game development industry within the field of game coding or programming.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Teaching and game industry experience.
    Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
    N/A.

    Based on course assignment.
    Physical Demands
    Typical for faculty in this field.
