OPS Healthcare Scribe

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking individuals interested in being employed as scribes in our rapidly growing PM&R program at the University of Florida.  

Responsibilities of the scribe include: 

• Entering patient rooms with the physician/clinician during patient visits to capture and transcribe medical record documentation in real time using electronic medical record applications.   

• Using appropriate medical terminology and phrasing to document the physician/clinician's communication with the patient and details of the visit in the electronic medical record.   

• Updating patient history and other pertinent health information in the patient record and documenting follow-up instructions under the direction of the physician/clinician. 

• Perform other related clerical duties to support the physician/clinician in creating a positive patient experience.   

Must interact in a sensitive and professional manner at all times with both internal (physicians, mid-level providers, and other staff) and external (patients) parties. Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times and follow all University of Florida and Group Practice HIPAA and confidentiality policies. The successful candidate must be punctual and maintain an excellent attendance record, must be well-organized, demonstrate personal initiative, and display interest in the overall well-being of the department and the greater health system.  

Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours weekly between the following dates/times: Monday through Friday, 7:30AM – 5:30PM 

$14 hourly

High school diploma or GED

• An understanding of patient confidentiality/HIPAA, adhering to all ethical and legal requirements 

• Experience in medical assisting, medical transcription, medical services 

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
