Job Description:

The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology, College of Medicine at the University of Florida, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure accruing position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor with experience in genetically engineered mice models that overexpress TYMS. In addition, knowledge of assays to test catalytic activity of TYMS is required.

The incumbent will work closely with staff in Maria Zajac-Kaye’s lab to implement new and ongoing cancer research.  Responsibilities will include developing assays to test the effect of TYMS in vitro by using 3D cultures and designing in vivo studies for drug testing of TYMS inhibitors in genetically engineered, xenograft and syngeneic mouse models. Flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry will be a requirement. This position will be expected to demonstrate all aspects of scholarship such as proposal development and submission; implementing and executing existing and new grants; scientific dissemination including conference presentations, manuscript publications, supervising undergraduates in the laboratory and mentoring graduates in their PhD studies. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, proven ability for self-motivation, and the capacity to work in a team.  Evidence of excellent organizational skills is preferred, as well as an ability to interpret and present scientific data.

Expected Salary:

Expected salary range for this position is $60,000-70,000 commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. degree, 5 years of post-doctoral training, and junior faculty experience in cancer research.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in tritium catalytic activity assay.
