Job Description

Lab Experiment:

Engage in research to explore the biophysical intricacies of eNAMPT and TLR4 interaction, crucial for innate immunity and PAH pathogenesis. This entails meticulous protein expression, purification, and functional analysis, as well as enzyme inhibition kinetics. Execute in silico molecular docking, modeling, and molecular dynamic
simulations. Perform structural determinations using cryoEM with precision and accuracy. Responsibilities include systematic data collection, organization, and rigorous analysis to inform the development of novel therapeutic strategies.


Manage Lab Activities:

Responsible for the complete understanding and compliance with all required laboratory regulations such as ACS, EH&S, IACUC, UF, State and Federal guidelines, maintains accurate records and legal documentation required by institutional policies such as biological, chemical, and radiation safety policies. Manage ordering process to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of grant funding; maintain lab supply inventory to ensure supplies are available for scheduled research projects; researches and evaluates new products, compares and negotiates vendor prices.


Teach trainees about research methods:

Supervises and directs lab staff to aid in experiments; Trains and supervises lab staff in various biophysical and insilico approaches; provides consultation, guidance, and troubleshooting for others in the laboratory related to various aspects of lab techniques and procedures; provides proper instruction on lab equipment use and maintenance; provides oversight to ensure accurate and thorough record keeping.


Scientific Writing and dissemination:

Analyze data and assemble results for scientific publications, grants, and conference presentations; assist in preparing data for scientific manuscripts, abstracts, grants, and other documents; manage accurate and complete laboratory research records and prepares daily written reports of experimental results; assists laboratory research with searches for and review of scientific literature relevant to the research focus of the
laboratory. Aids in the development of new research and laboratory protocols.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 - $70,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and seven years of experience or Master’s degree in biology or a related field with five years of experience. Doctoral degree in biology or related field with two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

SKILLS:
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with technicians and research partners in protein purification and compound synthesis. Advanced problem-solving skills for addressing complex biochemical and
pharmacological challenges, such as protein precipitation and data interpretation discrepancies. Skill in the use of scientific laboratory equipment.

ABILITIES:
Demonstrated experience with protein biochemistry techniques and enzymology. Solid track record of employing computational biology tools for structural and interaction analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in cross-functional scientific collaboration.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve scientific problems.
Proficient in the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Proven ability to ensure compliance with federal and institutional animal care guidelines/policies.

Additional hours maybe needed to ensure the completion of research experiments. Occasional needs will arise on the weekends requiring attention, especially given the need for this position to oversee animal care.
