OPS Research Assistant

The Center for Musculoskeletal Pain Research works on understanding the mechanisms of chronic pain and fatigue. The research involves only clinical research. You will spend one-on-one time with an experienced principal investigator (Medical Doctor) learning the skills required for clinical research. This is a position that provides ample instructions and allows for the development of new skill necessary for working with human research subjects. This is an excellent position for new graduates looking for research experience and willing to learn.

Essential Research Functions include:

• Assist with conducting of clinical research studies according to the protocol and standard operating procedures
• Prepare participants for lab experimentation, assisting with set up and obtaining informed consent
• Quantitative Sensory Testing of participants (thermal/mechanical testing)
• Process and prepare biological samples for shipment
• Evaluate and discuss data with Principal Investigator
• Apply psychological tests/surveys
• Develop excellent communication skills (you are going to work with human participants)
• Supervise student volunteers and familiarize them with research protocols
• Recruit subjects for clinical studies (phone calls, flyers, TV advertising, etc.)
• Maintain database for data analysis, assist with data entry/scanning

$15/hr

Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
