OPS Part-time Health Behavior Interventionist

Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Health and Human Performance is seeking candidates for multiple part-time positions (15-30 hrs/week). These positions involve delivering a telephone-based weight management intervention as part of an NIH-funded study. Requirements of the role include:

  • Delivering telephone-based individual protocol-based behavioral intervention to assist patients with weight loss.
  • Tracking patient attendance at sessions using online survey software.
  • Document adverse events reported by patient.
  • Managing scheduling of patients for individual sessions.
  • Attending weekly case-management style supervision meetings

Position could be set up as work-from-home, or conducted in research space available on the University of Florida campus in Yon Hall North. Applicants are not required to live near the University of Florida. If working from home, the candidate must have a private space from which to conduct phone-based interventions and a reliable internet connection. Scheduling of hours can be flexible during regular business hours in Eastern Standard Time Monday through Friday and should include some late afternoon/early evening availability. Preference for a candidate who is interested in continuing the position for at least one year. Opportunity to continue the position for up to 3 years is available.

Anticipated start date around February 1, 2023. Applications will be reviewed until positions are filled.

Expected Salary:

$20-$24 per hour, depending on experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area such as Psychology, Health Education & Behavior, or Nutrition OR 3 or more years of experience delivering behavioral or lifestyle counseling interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification or license in relevant area or currently engaging in post-graduate work leading towards relevant certification/license. Relevant certifications includes Registered Dietitian; Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES); Registered nurse; Licensed Counselor; Licensed Social Worker.
  • Experience interacting with healthcare patients, especially delivering counseling.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
