Job Description:

Provide high-level first and second tier technical support for instructors using classroom technology, including both computer and audio/visual equipment in university classrooms. Respond to immediate requests for assistance from instructors, by monitoring trouble tickets, answering Help Phone calls, taking walk-in requests for assistance and triaging instructor complaints, and repair or replace equipment, as necessary. Handle all classroom related support requests that need to be escalated by junior A/V staff and maintain IT and A/V inventory in the appropriate asset management system. Serve as team liaison regarding UF Active Directory, for physical network concerns, and while collaborating with Network Services for DCHP/DNS issues. Serve as the lead installer and certified Crestron programmer.

Develop project work plans through communication with clients and end-users through consultation with campus standards and other service providers, conducting site-surveys, and referencing previous work. Responsible for developing system design flow charts, schematics, and other documentation as required to develop control system program designs that meets both end users’ needs and campus standards. Work with vendors and other experts to identify the most appropriate solutions to project objectives.

Utilize appropriate programming tools, systems, and test rigs to efficiently develop control system code that meets both end users’ needs and campus standards. Employ software testing procedures to ensure code is robust under all expected operating conditions. Document system code to ensure future changes and updates can be accomplished with a minimum of re-coding.

Collaborate in the development of complete system schematics, equipment lists, requisitions, and physical room and equipment integration plans to ensure the designed system will meet end user needs and campus standards. Take part in installation and upgrade projects relating to classroom upgrade and renovation. Activities may include but are not limited to rewiring cable infrastructure; modification or fabrication of furniture and/or equipment; relocating furniture and/or equipment; cleaning and prepping classrooms to create an engaging environment for faculty and students. Drive state vehicle to various work locations.

Maintenance work and miscellaneous jobs such as cleaning out unused storage areas, surveying equipment, organizing work areas, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or a related field

EXPERIENCE
Windows, OSX, Microsoft Office products, Crestron, Q-SYS, MediaSite
Testing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing a wide variety of audiovisual equipment

KNOWLEDGE
Detailed expert-level knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, and mobile device operating systems and applications (strongly preferred)
Basic computer programming
Audio/visual system
Awareness of current standards and trends in Audio Visual and emerging technology

Adapt basic computer programming knowledge to other programming applications
Work well in groups or on your own
Understanding and connecting complex A/V system
