Job Description Summary
The Summer Worker position is an IT Technician who must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The goal is to help build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.
You will assist IT Services Staff with Job duties as needed and Help all Student/Staff/Faculty with Computer issues as a first response Service desk.

Job Description
Duties and Tasks:

- Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)
- Check computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
- Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
- Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
- Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
- Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
- Take phone calls and enter helpdesk request.
- Escalate requests to appropriate teams
- Able to lift and 25lbs
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to communicate technical information in an accessible manner to non-technical employees.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication ability
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
- Software & hardware maintenance and testing capability.
- Basic knowledge of networking principles and operating systems.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Customer-service focus.
- Multitasking in a dynamic fast paced high stress environment.
- Hands-on problem-solving ability.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, associate degree or above in computer science, information systems, or related a plus.
- CompTIA A+ or greater a plus
- Prior experience working on Helpdesk, in IT, or similar technical function is helpful.
- Currently enrolled Saint Leo student
