The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, time-limited, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant/Associate/Full Scientist in the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering. Initial appointment will be for one year with annual re-appointment based on performance and available funding. It is expected that this position will be funded for a minimum of 2 years.

This position is housed within the LearnDialogue group (learndialogue.org), an interdisciplinary lab that builds artificial intelligence and spoken conversational interfaces to support collaboration, learning, and sports. The portfolio of projects within the LearnDialogue group spans elementary, middle, and high school K-12 as well as undergraduate computer science education and supports collaboration among children and adults as well as investigating human-computer interaction issues around supporting sports and exercise. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as project manager for between one and three projects in these research areas. The ideal candidate will also have experience leading research projects and mentoring others. The proportion of research, software development, and project-management responsibilities in this role will be tailored to the successful applicant’s goals and strengths. This position provides the successful candidate an opportunity to contribute to, and take leadership in, leading-edge research projects in an academic setting.
