Research Coordinator I

Job Description:

Specific duties of the Research Coordinator I include the following tasks organized by area of work.

Research/Grant Management

  • Develop project/work plans.
  • Monitor progress, identify, and resolve barriers to progress, and work with project leadership to make any necessary adjustments to scope, timeline, and/or budget.
  • Communicate with faculty and staff, sponsors, community partners, and other external constituencies.
  • Coordinate data collection activities (e.g., recruit and communicate with research participants, plan for interviews, coordinate survey logistics, create project timelines)
  • Coordinate research team meetings and record action items.
  • Support the preparation of reports, applications, and manuscripts (e.g., perform literature searches).
  • Maintain project compliance with regulations and policies (federal, state, university, sponsors), creating and renewing IRB protocols, organizing information for audits, etc.
  • Provide oversight of project students and staff, ensuring that daily tasks are completed and that the project timelines communicated across the team are met.
  • Coordinate research related events aligned with PIs’ research program.

Proposal Development

  • Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Collaborate with an OER Research Administrator(s) to establish a streamlined process and timeline for assisting PIs in preparing proposals and in accordance with requirements.
  • Review and revise proposals according to funding agencies’ missions and review criteria and for clarity, coherence, significance, innovation, structure, style, and format.
  • Create supporting and boilerplate documents (e.g., letters of intent, support letters, etc.) for inclusion in proposals.
  • Conduct targeted searches to bolster proposal development efforts and identify potential funding sources.

Research Support

  • Support the Associate Dean for Research and Research Director with other research-related duties (e.g., composing documents, preparing award applications, planning research events, etc.).

Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years of appropriate and relevant experience
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Professional Suite of Products
  • Experience in the preparation of proposals, reports, and other documents
  • Ability to employ a variety of strategies to meet the communication (e.g., writing) needs
  • Ability to research, compile, organize, and synthesize materials obtained from a variety of sources and to present concise information in a timely manner
  • Presentation and group facilitation skills
