Job Description:

The University of Florida's Office of Admissions is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Admissions Officer I. Serving on a team dedicated to coordinating the initial processing of international applications, the successful candidate will demonstrate a keen attention to detail, effective communication, and a comprehensive understanding of residency rules and regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

Application Processing

In this role, the Admissions Officer is responsible for coordinating the initial processing of applications, including undergraduate, graduate, professional, and certificate programs, with a specific focus on international applicants in distance and online programs. A comprehensive understanding of majors, degrees, and program levels is required to ensure a thorough and efficient review process.

Communication and Advising

The successful candidate in this position will develop a comprehensive understanding of admission requirements for all entry levels and associated business processes, guiding departments and applicants on necessary credentials such as transcripts, test scores, application fees, and residency documents. Additionally, this position provides support to OneStop staff in addressing escalated admission inquiries, and will participate in cross-functional events, committee advising, Q&A sessions, and additional staff training.

Data Management

The Admissions Officer oversees application data and ensures seamless integration with the student information system. This includes creating new data as well as maintaining existing data and monitoring the synchronization between systems.

Finalization

This role is responsible for completing the admission process for international students, including reviewing credentials, handling holds, and assessing deferral requests to ensure a smooth transition for student registration.

Other duties

The Admissions Officer will perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the Office of Admissions.

 

This position is located at the University of Florida's main campus in Gainesville, FL and may be eligible for a flexible, hybrid work arrangement in accordance with the University of Florida and Division of Enrollment Management's policies.

Expected Salary:

$40,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to establish work priorities, coordinate the timely completion of work assignments, strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with customer service and public relations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work and training assignments.
  • Experience with Slate and/or PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
