This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled administrator to join the Work Foundation at Lancaster University on a 12 month secondment. We are looking for a talented individual who shares our goal to tackle structural inequalities in the UK labour market through shaping changes in employer practice and policy with strong administrative skills to support the delivery of our work.

About you

Are you an experienced and effective administrator who enjoys working as part of a team? Are you interested in the debate about what responsible employment looks like in the 21st century?

You will be based within LUMS at Lancaster University’s Bailrigg campus. You will provide remote support for the London office across all areas of operations including delivery of the work programmes; engagement and events; resource management and administration.  You may be required to travel to London occasionally, and Work Foundation colleagues will regularly travel to Lancaster.

The role will be varied and challenging and you will need to work successfully with a wide variety of people including sponsors, clients, Government Departments, the Media and Funding Bodies, academic staff and professional service colleagues within Lancaster University.

The work you’ll do

The Work Foundation Coordinator works closely with the Director of the Work Foundation and the wider Senior Management team to provide administrative support across the Work Foundation programme. In particular you will support the Director with management of his diary, provide logistical support around the Work Foundation’s vibrant events programme, have lead responsibility for updating the Work Foundation website and connect the Work Foundation with key Lancaster stakeholders in HR, finance and operations.

Being part of our team

Flexible working is important to us at the Work Foundation and we’re open to candidates who would like to work flexible hours. Members of our team currently use a range of flexible working arrangements including part-time, flexible hours and compressed hours.

We have offices on Fetter Lane in central London and on campus at Lancaster University. Our team tend to work part of the week at home, and part of the week on site, but both offices are available five days a week.

The reward and benefits package for this role includes:

A salary of £25,138 for the duration of the 12 month secondment.

A defined benefit pension with the Local Government Pensions Scheme (employer contributions currently 15%, employee contributions 6.5%)

A generous holiday entitlement (25 days plus five university closure days between Christmas and Easter), which increases with length of service

A Cycle to Work Scheme

A confidential Employee Assistance Programme and a range of other benefits and discounts.
