Location: Liverpool, ENGLAND
Deadline: 22 Mar 2024

The Department of English seeks to appoint a William Noble Research Fellow in English. This post is designed to provide an opportunity for an outstanding early career researcher in English Language or Literature to develop a substantial research project. You will be expected to contribute fully to the thriving research culture of the Department, to the study of English nationally and internationally, and to the discipline¿s wider profile outside the academy. This is a developmental post and you will not previously have held a permanent academic position, but should have a record of research excellence appropriate to your career stage, and a detailed plan for achieving high-quality publications, impact, and external research funding. You will have (or be about to obtain) a PhD, normally awarded no more than two years prior to the application date. The appointee will be an individual who has demonstrated or shows potential for international excellence in research and impact in English. Any area of specialism will be considered, but we particularly welcome applications from academics whose work aligns with one or more of our research centres and clusters -

The postholder will be expected to contribute to the department¿s teaching, normally increasing in load over the term of the post. There may be opportunities to offer teaching directly reflecting the post-holder¿s own areas of interest and expertise at MA as well as undergraduate level, including supervision of dissertations. It is also expected that the post-holder will provide some administrative support to the department¿s research culture and/or specific centres or clusters. The fellow will be encouraged and supported to develop knowledge, skills, and expertise via the University's academic development programmes. The post is tenable for three years only, with the post-holder available to commence September 2024 (start date TBC).

The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
