Applications are invited for the post of Web & Application Developer in the IT Department.
This post resides in the Student Administrative Systems team helping to design and implement elegant and compelling web-based experiences that enable colleagues and students to interact with the University’s digital services.
The post holder will continue their personal development journey at Royal Holloway by assisting with the design of interactive prototypes, participate in the daily scrums and help turn the prototypes into working solutions using a wide range of front-end and back-end technologies such as HTML5, React, Bootstrap, Node.js,, MS Graph and other vendor- / platform-specific APIs and workflow solutions.
There are plenty of training opportunities as the post holder will have opportunities to be engaged in developing across the Microsoft Power platform and within a new MS Dynamics implementation.  There is access to Microsoft subscriptions, a Pluralsight licence and knowledge from seasoned team members.
To be considered for this role, a passion for web and application development is a must have, along with knowledge of programming using a language such as JavaScript, C#, Python or Java.
Prior experience of building websites / applications using HTML5, CSS 3 and JavaScript is essential, either at an academic level or in industry, and whilst education to degree level or equivalent is beneficial, a demonstrable portfolio of projects or completion of industry relevant course would be an acceptable alternative.
Knowledge of React or a server-side language such as ASP.Net or PHP, or of the Microsoft Power Platform and Graph APIs is desirable but not essential as training can be provided if necessary.
The successful candidate will also possess excellent attention to detail as they will be creating elements for use on the public website and business critical services, they will have clear written and verbal communications skills and will be able to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving.
The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with a creative, problem-solving mind-set, a passion for technology and a desire to learn new skills. This role will involve working in close collaboration with staff in Schools and supporting services, on cross-college activities to support all aspects of college life. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.

This post allows is currently included in the College’s hybrid working pilot scheme, which allows for a degree of remote working, but will still require the post holder to come on to campus at least twice a month for team/department events, and additionally as required by the Business.
The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
